Since this was our last day, we wanted to fit in as much as we could. We had a late start. (Half the family was kept awake by a huge screaming, banging, singing fight in the middle of the night. Dave actually got a little worried at one point.)
We started at our apartment and walked down Rambla Catalunya until we reached the Boqueria Market. On the way, we got our new cell phones. I cannot believe we survived as long as we did without them!
The market was great. We got yummy sandwiches and chocolate, but passed on the fish heads and live crustaceans.
After that we wound through some beautiful narrow side streets on our way to the Barcelona cathedral. This was the first time the kids have been inside a cathedral so they really enjoyed it. We were able to take an elevator to the roof. They have grated walkways across the top of the roof. The views were AMAZING!! We were able to see the entire city.
Next, we walked down to Barceloneta. The kids were tiring of all the walking, but it was so beautiful along the way, that we were glad we walked (well, dave and I were glad.) We stayed at the beach for awhile. Poor little Dillon will never be the same after the amount of topless sunbathers he saw! He finally just laid down and kept his eyes closed. After about an hour, a man came up and told us that we were supposed to pay 5 euro a piece to sit on the beach chairs, so we took that as our cue to leave!
We walked awhile more until we found a metro station. The kids were all SO happy to ride for awhile. We came home and rested for a bit. We had to wake Dillon for dinner and then he pretty much fell asleep at the restaurant. The second we got home, he climbed in bed and Mali followed soon after.
Our ride to the airport comes at 7:30 am. So I am packing, cleaning, and doing laundry to get ready for our flight to Madrid tomorrow.
ps – hoping to get yesterday’s photos posted while at the airport tomorrow.
Gorgeous! Your pictures look great, and what a fun day!
