I’ll Be There For you

Today was another great day.  We went to church, which is always fun.  Our Navigo passes (metro/bus/train passes) expired yesterday.  Since we don’t renew them until tomorrow, we walked both ways to church today.  I loved it and the kids saw that it’s really not that far away.  We meet some more new people.   It’s so much fun to hear why people are here.  We said good-bye to our new friends, The Sauers.  They leave on Tuesday.   It was fun to have friends out here.

The Shurtleffs invited us over to dinner again tonight – yeah!  We were all so excited.  We came home after church and relaxed.  I even got a Sunday nap in – so awesome.  We were to be at the Shurtleffs at 5:30.  When we got arrived, there were eleven others there.  These people are SO generous!!!!!  The meal was delicious,  again.

It was so much fun to talk to everyone and hear all of their stories.  There was a young couple here for a Law School internship.  They will go straight to Budapest, Hungary for fall semester – what an adventure.  There was a college kid with his girlfriend here studying for the summer who had served his mission here in Paris .  Another  gentleman was here helping a business associate move to Paris before going to the Congo for work.  The bishop, his wife and their baby were there.  He owns his own business here, so the will be here in Paris for awhile.

Elaine and Richard, our hosts, were their usual kind and generous selves.  They have so many interesting stories from their lives.  We could talk with them for hours.

The biggest thing we learned from these wonderful people is their unconditional generosity.  They take care of everyone that comes and goes in the ward.  They found out today that we weren’t able to go to Italy, and instantly invited us to dinner.  We are determined to be more like them when we return.  NO more excuses for not serving others.  I don’t know how to express how much they have meant to us out here.  They are such a good example to all of us and I am very glad my kids have been able to see that.

Tomorrow starts our last week here in Paris!  So crazy.
