We had the apartment manager coming at 1:00 today to check out the washer/dryer, so Dave and Mali stayed home, while Dillon, Hayley and I tried another walk. We started in the middle because we needed to exchange Dillon’s jeans, but it was a neat walk. We saw the “fountain of the innocents”. We walked along the quai and found a fun pet shop with all kinds of animals. The puppies were our favorite – we even saw an Akita Inu. We all miss our dog.
The washer/dryer problem was not fixed, but we knew it wouldn’t be. :) Dave did “resolve” the Italy hotel issue, though. He was able to dispute the charge with the credit card company and they will just charge us for one night at the hotel, rather than all 4. It’s not perfect, but so much better than the 4 nights charge. We are just sad that we had paid extra for a room with a view! Oh well. Hopefully we can move on from this whole thing now.
So, Mali and Dave met up with us to go on a walk by the Luxemborg Gardens. It was beautiful. We all think there were more flowers there than when we came last month. We walked around some of the surrounding streets and found the plaza and cathedral of St. Suplice. We were thrilled to stumble on such a pretty cathedral. It is featured in the book “The DaVinci Code”. There is a note posted saying that what the book says is not true – so funny!
We decided to go home and get some dinner. All of the trains on our metro line were packed and overflowing. When we finally boarded, it was so crazy crowded, that Hayley did not make it on!!! I was completely distraught looking at her sweet face being left on the platform. We told her to get on the next train. So, we got off on the following stop and waited for her. I was so happy to see her! I am so glad that if this were going to happen, it was Hayley and not Mali. But, it still scared me to death!!! We all crammed like crazy on to the next train and made it to our stop.
We decided to go to one of our favorite spots tonight since our time is coming to an end. So, we headed to the Cafe de Musees. We do love these people!
We have been here almost 6 weeks and none of us had tried foie gras. So, tonight was the night. Dave and I were both shocked at how much we liked it! Hayley liked it, too, but didn’t love it. The rest of the meal was delicious as well. We will miss our friends and their yummy food.

Wendy, this is your Aunt Sharlene. I didn't know you had a blog until 3 days ago. Wish I had known back in June!! But I just spent an hour reading and looking and loving all of this! I could make so many comments that this would be longer than your posts. I'll just say that Russ and I went on a 9-country tour that included the countries you've been in and so many of the pictures are fammiliar. (ours was a short two-week trip, however) Lisa and David went to France visiting Paris and Normandy. (loved it) I'll show them that post. Just a couple of favorites: your "half-way" post where everyone said what they liked and didn't like so far. The elevator story. And I actually got tears in my eyes when I read your Aug. 2 entry---visiting Chartes---the tears came when I read about you and Dave going for an evening walk by yourselves. It had beenn such a busy, exhausting day---the walk with just the two of you was a prefect end to the day. So glad that everything is going so well (all in all). Are you going to put all these posts into a hardback book? Best wishes--enjoy your last weeks.
