We met two new families. One is a family with three girls exactly our kids ages. They are from Tacoma, Washington! They have been here 3 weeks and have one more. We only wish that they had come to church earlier so that we could have hung out with them. I think the kids would have loved it. We had a fun time talking to them today, though. Another couple had just arrived and Dave had a great time unloading all of our recommendations on them. We said goodbye to all of our other friends that we have made this summer. It was very sad to walk out of there knowing we’ll most likely never see these sweet people again.
We walked home by the Falafel place, and Dave just couldn’t resist. So, we got our last falafels to go and ate them at home at our cute little kitchen table. Dillon, Dave and Hayley went for a little walk over to the Carnavalet. Dill, Dave and I had been before, so it was nice for Hayley to see it. Mali was just getting sicker, so she stayed home with me while I took a quick nap. After they got back, it was more packing and cleaning. Even with the new suitcase, our bags are all bursting at the seams. :)
For a break, Hayley, Dillon, Dave and I walked over to the Ile St. Louis one last time. The weather was just beautiful. On our walk we saw 4 Berthillon ice cream shops. All of them had lines of at least 30 people – so funny! This is supposed to be the best ice cream in Paris. (Hayley and I had it with Mercedes and Lori, and it was pretty delicious)
We stopped in at our yummy bakery for the last of our Paris baked goods. (This was definitely a day of too much eating!) It was so nice to be out and about with so many people. There was a street performer on the bridge to Notre Dame, so we stopped to watch him for awhile. We walked over to the Hotel de Ville one last time and then headed home through some of the pretty side streets that Dave had discovered on his Paris walks.
We went home to more packing, fun fun! We decided to eat our last meal in Paris at the same place we ate our first meal in Paris, Chez Janou. This is the restaurant at the bottom of our building. The first time we ate there, we were running on 3 hours of sleep and no French knowledge. This time, it was so much better! Everyone got something that they liked (a lot of it due to the fact that we understood the menu a bit better) and we just had a fun time being there.
We watched one last episode of Lost, just because it is representative of our time here in Paris. Who knows when the kids will see the next 5 seasons! We got the kiddos to bed and continued to pack. We went out to our balcony one last time to soak in the view of this beautiful city. We saw the 12:00 sparkly Eiffel for the last time. I have to say, I cried this last time, just as I did the first time I saw it.
Good day, good night, but I am SOOOO sad to leave!!! I love Paris and truly loved our time here. So many cherished memories!

I love the houses/hotels/buildings here that are covered in greenery

I'm sorry that Mali has been sick, but she looks cute as a button in the pictures. I'm glad you put the wonderful pix of the Shurtleff's in this post.
