Ghost Song

Tuesday, I stayed home in the morning to wait for a package while Dave and the kids went out. They decided to go to the Sainte-Chappelle and the Conciergerie. I did some laundry, cleaning and worked on our Italy plans.
They got home just as I headed out to my hair appointment. I was super nervous about going to a new place and trusting someone with my hair (sounds shallow, but it’s true!) The guy who did it was an American who has been living here for about 28 years, so communication was not a problem. It was a blazing hot day, no a/c, took forever, but he did a great job.
While I was gone, Dave and Dillon decided to go to the Cimitiere du Pere-Lachaise. The found the graves of Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Victor Noir and many others. Dillon loved the cemetery. They saw lots of creeeepy sights there.
When I got home from my hair appointment, the girls and I opened the package from the McDevitts. We thought they were just returning Dillon’s sunglasses and Mali’s bathing suit. We found candy, gum, cookie mix, personalized bracelets, key chains and t-shirts. What an exciting surprise! We couldn’t believe it. So thoughtful and just what we needed.
Dave and Dill came home so that we could head out to the Memorial des Martyrs del la Deportation. I was really looking forward to seeing it. Unfortunately, when we got there, there was a sign saying it was temporarily closed!! AUGH! Major bummer. :( I was sad because I wanted to get one sight in today. I guess I can count the hair salon as a new sight!
Dave headed home with Mali and I took the other kids to try and find shoes for Dillon. We went to a new area that I hadn’t seen called “Montparnasse”. We were just there to shop, though. We had a true French customer service experience at the Rip Curl shop. Dillon had tried on 10 different pair of shoes (we had helped ourselves.) We found a shoe that fit perfect, was the right price, that dillon and I both approved of. We couldn’t find the match, so, we asked the clerk to find the match for us. She just said “everything is out”. I told her there was only the one shoe and that there had to be a match and could she find it. Nope! Everything was out. And I said, there is really only one shoe? It was insane. So, unfortunately, we came home empty-handed again.
Dave cooked some steak and we made a yummy steak salad for dinner. Dave went out for an errand and on the way home, he saw a movie set going up at the top of our street. So, we all went down to check it out! Very cool.
After we put the kids to bed, Dave and I went over to the Thompsons’ apartment to do some things out on their printer. They leave tomorrow and we will MISS them. It’s been so much fun having friendly neighbors. But, we are hoping to meet up once we’re both in London next week.
While we were at the Thompsons, Hayley called and said that there were 12 different fireworks shows going on outside. For Bastille Day, the night before the holiday, the fire stations all over town and have big celebrations, dancing and food. We were sad we missed the show, but hopefully tomorrow night’s will be just as good!
Dave and I walked around for awhile and saw the filming of another movie scene. I wonder if we’ll ever know what the movie is.
