I’ve Been to London, I’ve Been to Paris…

Well, we made it home! Yeah! The day started at 5:45 am. Carl had us all a little paranoid about arriving at the airport in time. He said we needed to be there by 8 and leave our home at 6. So, we got out by 6:30. We walked down to the train station and bought our tickets, before noticing that the first train did not come until 7:10! Bummer! So, we went in search of a bus to take us to the next station. A kind gentleman told us which bus we needed and which stop we should take. We went to get on the bus and our tube tickets did not work. He said it would be 11 GBP for us to ride the bus. We only had 4.50 left after buying our tickets. I begged the driver to let us on and he got upset with me. I told the kids that we had to get off, and then he shut the doors and just told me to pay for two adult fares. Thank heavens for little mercies! I thanked him over and over.
The train ride went smoothly and we arrived in plenty of time. Everyone was tired out of their minds, but super good sports. We found a bookstore and stocked up! We bought travel books for Venice and Munich. The kids and Dave picked out 4 novels to share – success! But just like in Spain, we came away empty handed as far as souvenirs (I know we will regret this later!) Mali did find a cute bear and named her “Bobbi Piccadilly”.
Everyone had something to read, so waiting went by quickly and our flight went well. We were all SO happy to be back in Paris. Even though it’s not our real home, it feels like home. We know our way around here, we have the system figured out here, and we really do love it here.
We got home and carried the luggage up the 8 flights. When we got to the top, we found that our next door neighbors, the woman who screamed at us, had left the door ajar, causing the elevator to be stuck on our floor. HAH! Proof that we are not the ones messing up the elevator. :) But, no one will ever know but us, so what does it really matter??
We all rested, some of us slept for awhile. We ate dinner and then Dave and I went to the store. On our way, we saw a woman and her son that we had seen at church a couple of times. The first week we were here, we just assumed that they were here for a week. But, after seeing them this past Sunday, we knew that they had to be like us, here for awhile. So, I stopped them and we talked for a long time. It was so much fun to swap stories! They got to Paris the same day we did and leave the week before we do. They are staying less than a mile from us. It killed me that we didn’t talk to them earlier! Duh! Anyway, we swapped info and promised to call/email/get together.
We got home late, but had food for the house. We watched some LOST and sent the kids to bed. So great to be home!
