When I got home, we made the call to just go for it and head to London. Insane!! It was totally a leap of faith on our part. We are staying at some random hotel for the night tonight, then off to an apartment owned by some kind of sketchy people. (This all would have made a lot more sense if I were in my 20’s and didn’t need any sleep or have any kids.) That was around 12-12:30 and we needed to leave the apartment around 3:30-4 to make it to the airport on time. So, it was kind of a scramble to get everything together, but we managed.
While I got everything ready, Dave took Dillon over to see the inside of the Notre Dame (he had only climbed the tower before.) It was great that they were able to squeeze that in real quick. We got on the metro that took us to the train, that took us on the LONG ride to the airport. It was hot, and the train kept stopping. Everyone on the train was literally melting! But, we made it and were SO appreciative of the a/c in the airport!
We arrived in London while it was still light, so we were able to see it as we flew in. We took another LOOOONG train ride to get to our “four star” hotel. It was a far cry from “four star” in my book, and no where near worth the mountain of money we laid down for it!! But, we really just needed beds, and that we had!
We had a girls’ room and a boys’ room. They weren’t able to be in adjoining rooms, or even on the same floor, which was unfortunate. But, the boys took good care of us and bought us snacks and food for breakfast in the morning.
It was a CRAZY LONG travel day, and we are making this trip solely on the faith that these sketchy people will not flake on us. But, we are here! We’re in LONDON! Very cool! We can’t wait to get out and see it all. :)
Our one photo of the day – The area we are staying the night is called “Hammersmith” and I loved this cute sign.
Wow! What an adventure! I'm so glad you found a place...even if it's sketchy you won't be in the apartment much anyway! Have fun!
