Anyway, after we were done, she showed me this super cool market that is not too far from my home. This one has a true flea market, just what I have been looking for. She also showed me some other fun shops and gave me some books and maps for our Normandy trip next week. Great morning.
When I got home, the kids were just getting up. I told them about the stores I had seen, and we decided to go and check them out. We found 2 shirts and a coat for Dillon, shoes and a shirt for Hayley and some fun crafting supplies for Mali. Dave got his birthday house slippers at last!!! Yeah! And, I was able to find some travel scissors. (it sounds silly, but I have been hunting for some for months!) By the time we got to the market, they were shutting it down, so we’ll have to hit it again earlier.
We went home for lunch, and then headed out to the Pere Lachaise cemetery. Dave and Dillon had been before, but were more than happy to go again. I was a really cool cemetery! It’s HUGE! We were able to see where Chopin, Jim Morrison, Victor Noir, and Oscar Wilde were buried. Oscar Wilde’s was totally covered with lipstick kisses and you can see where people have rubbed Victor Noir for luck with fertility. Mali burnt out pretty fast, so we didn’t linger too long.
Dave has been wanting to return to the restaurant we tried to go to on his birthday. We called and were actually able to get a table! So, we got the kids some dinner, spiffed ourselves up a bit, and headed to “Le Pamphlet” for a date. The meal was absolutely INCREDIBLE!! We got the prefix meal and it was delicious from start to finish. It was a very lovely evening and so nice to go on a real “date”.
<I should mention here, just so we don’t forget, one of Dave’s biggest pet peeves about eating out here in France. It’s the time it takes from when you ask for the check, to when you actually get the check and are able to pay. Tonight, after they cleared everything from our table, including our water, Dave asked for the check. It was a full half hour before we received it and actually left the restaurant. It doesn’t bother me quite as much as it does Dave, but it is a little nutty.>
Good day and good night! Tonight, a nice couple from church called us and invited us to dinner tomorrow night! We are so excited for good company and good food. Our other new friends, the Sauers asked if we wanted to go see the Tour de France with them after church. So! It should be a fun, busy day tomorrow (and we like those.)
