Meet Me Halfway

“Half way – Yay!” A few years ago, we got some new silk curtains for our dining room right before Thanksgiving. When we sat down to eat, Hayley asked “What would you do if I threw this jam on the new curtains?” And we told her she would have to pay for them. With what she was making, it would probably take 10 years. So, when she turned 14, her gift would be a card in her stocking saying “halfway – yay!”

We are halfway through our trip as of Wednesday and this is the saying that keeps coming to our minds. In some ways, it seems like we have been here forever, but we know that time will just go faster from here on out.

I decided Dave and the kids at dinner tonight what they missed the most and what they liked the most about being here. Here are our answers:

MALI:

    • What I miss: Koda, our dog, my friends, and relaxing
    • What I like: the food and the things we see
    • The place would I return to visit again: London

DILLON: (dillon says “yo”)

    • What I miss: All of my friends, playing my guitar, Koda, my bed and Zumiez
    • What I like: the food, all the desserts, the graveyard, our Paris apartment, Toledo and all of the knives there, and watching LOST

HAYLEY:

    • What I miss: my friends, parties, dances, things we can’t find here – like root beer & drinking fountains, and my ward.
    • What I like: the art, the desserts, the general warm climate, and walking a lot.

DAVE:

    • What I miss: my bed and our friends
    • What I like: spending time with the family, exploring and finding new things, the art, the Louvre, the beautiful cathedrals (ie: Westminster Abbey) and learning French

WENDY:

    • What I miss: my bed, my friends, get-togethers with friends, my exercise routine
    • What I like: walking everywhere, just “living” in Paris, hearing all of the different languages, seeing so many beautiful places and things and having my best friend with me all day everyday.
