We let the kids sleep until 9, but we were all absolutely EXHAUSTED! We got to the Louvre around 10:15. The kids were complaining the first 30 minutes in, so we made some deals. Two hours and then lunch, after lunch, two more hours and then Angelina’s. They obliged, and we were able to see A LOT. It was great!
Some of today’s museum highlights were:
Michelangelo’s Slaves sculptures; Vermeer’s The Lacemaker ; Rembrandt’s Self Portrait and Bathsheba at her bath; Napolean III”s Royal apartments; The Code of Hammurabi; Lamassu Winged bull demigods; The Reubens Room; Egyptian Antiquities, and SO MANY MORE amazing things!! It has been really great for Hayley to see so many of the things she studied in honors this year up close. She is enjoying it.
We kept our side of the deal, and the kids kept theirs’, and in the end, I believe we were all happy. (though Dave and i could have spent days in there. ) We had the amazing hot chocolate at Angelina’s. It was so funny to be drinking hot chocolate on a hot summer day! But, I am glad we tried it.
After the Louvre adventure, Dill and I tried shoe shopping again. For some reason, this kid is not destined to have new shoes! Every time we find something he really likes, we are unable to find his size – bummer.
We had dinner at home, and then headed down to the Place de Vosges to play games. We love this beautiful park and are so grateful to have it only a couple of blocks away from our home.
Great day!

Wendy, it's been so fun reading up on your adventures! I love it all! I'm going to start saving my pennies right now so I can do this with my kiddos someday. ;)
ReplyDeleteYUM, the hot chocolate looks sooo good. Have you been to Belle Pastry in Old Bellevue? Authentic. I might have to head over there this week.... xo Rachel
